According to Silver RavenWolf, the creator of the
Witches Runes, an individual who uses runes for magick is called a "Rune-Witan" (rune-wise-one). This deck is especially suitable for such runic practitioners. It combines the wisdom and lore of the ancient Germanic runes with Wicca and Magick. Each card is devoted to one rune. The rune sign is at the top with both the
traditional and English name at the bottom. The picture shows the mythic themes and symbols associated with the rune. There is an extra blank card as well. The artist is Nigel Jackson, who also created the
Nigel Jackson Tarot. The set comes with the book
Rune Mysteries by Silver RavenWolf. She describes the lore and meaning of each card and gives the tree,
colour, element and other related correspondences. Two special chapters are devoted to the art of rune magick and runic mysteries. The
Witches Runes was originally published as the
Rune Oracle.

open set, I have gathered images from the internet - the ones below are
from the publisher's site : Llewellyn and I am guessing that they
haven't updated them. It appears that in the original printing of the
Rune Oracle set, the cards are bordered in yellow and they are
now bordered in black in the Witches Runes set (as shown in the
images further down this page). Nonetheless, even though there are cosmetic changes, the images are all identical.}
When the blank rune card falls within your reading, it could represent one of three possibilities: 1) You are not to know the answer to this question. 2) Nothing has been fated you; decisions still have to be made either by you or another before the situation has a clear end. 3) The future is what you make it. Go forward with wise choices.
Haegl
The Haegl card stands for a period of disruption and change, and often denotes the upset of well-laid plans. Look out for some sort of upset or new way of thought on a particular issue. Perhaps you need to delve into and understand the shadow side of yourself to make necessary adjustments to short and long-term goals. Remember that Haegl can be seen either as a blessing or a bane.
Eoh
Eoh is another card of movement and change. It can, indeed indicate the death of someone, news of a past friend or enemy, or herald old problems raising their ugly heads in your life. Toughness and flexibility are the enabling qualities that allow you to persist, undaunted, through rough circumstances. Seize the day - go forward with a sense of purpose and accomplishment.
Lagus
The Lagus card represents the emotional and imaginative aspects of life. You are open to intuitive feelings at this time, and are growing more sensitive to subtle and hidden undercurrents. Lagus also indicates things unseen but felt. Trust your gut reactions.
